Before scanning a QR code, observe the collateral for any signs of tampering such as a sticker placed over the original QR code printed in newspapers, posters, magazines, pamphlet etc.
When you scan a QR code for payment, ensure the correct/genuine merchant’s/recipient’s name is displayed before proceeding.
Do not enter your personal information or account details after scanning a QR code if it redirects you to a fake or different website.
Install security applications on your mobile device, such as anti-virus, anti-malware or any other security applications that checks the websites you visit for malicious content.
How do I ensure my QR Payment transactions are correct?
In efforts to ensure your QR Payment transactions are accurate, for every transaction we encourage you to:
Check the source of funds selected
Check the displayed amount to be paid
Check the merchant’s details (business name) before proceeding with the transaction
If my mobile phone is lost/ stolen, will my online banking account be accessed easily by fraudsters?
No. Additional layers of protection such as your Biometrics (Face ID®/ Touch ID®/Android Fingerprint) or Password authentication is required before successful login to your bank account. These measures are in place to safeguard you against fraudsters.
